Choi Siyo

I can’t explain myself. Words often fail to describe who I am. Hence, my focus on my creative endeavors. I’ve wondered  all around the world from 2005 to 2012, and since 2013, I have dedicated myself to art, a path that has seen me work between mainly Paris and Seoul, as well as wherever my feet guide me. 

Work

I’ve been working an earnest since 2014. For a long time, I’ve been searching for materials that can capture the essence of both extinction(death) and creation(resurrection) on a single surface. I focus on the simultaneity and continuity of extinction and creation. My work has involved experimenting with a divers range of materials. I am working to create an image that is a single surface but possesses the depth and substance of time, and I am looking for materiality and language that allows for both expansion and compression.

I plan to broaden the scope of my works, using not only paper and paint, collage, but also integrating diverse materials like thread and fabric, and more.
